Community News

The Boone's Trace Civic Association (BTCA) held its second quarterly meeting of 2005 on April 25 at The Bull Clubhouse. Amie Hawkins, president of the association, reported that the Easter Egg Hunt was a GIGANTIC success, with about 20 children participating in the activities, while their moms and dads enjoyed visiting and watching the fun. The kids had lots of activities, including decorating cupcakes as bunny rabbits, making Easter "baskets" from paper sacks, taking turns at the piñata, and searching for eggs. Amie gave a special note of thanks to KK Trott and Sue Violette, who helped her organize the party, and to Kim Patton of ERA Realtors for providing great prizes for the kids' events. Also to the moms and dads who attended the function and brought treats for the children, making it a great afternoon.

At the April Civic Association Meeting, the guest speaker was Boone's Trace resident Robert Trott, who is manager of Adelphia. He answered questions and reported that cable would be available at Boone's Trace "in about two months" and said that residents would be advised of the services by individual notices when the cables are completely installed. General discussion included regulations governing the swimming pool, and the need for a playground for the children. Betty Huxel and Seema Capoor have volunteered to head a committee to look into getting playground equipment. If you want to help, contact Betty at 624-2569. A list was created of those wishing to pay maintenance fees through electronic file transfer, and Maggard Property Management will implement this feature starting in July. You must sign up by June 22 to start in July (see page 3). Residents at the meeting expressed concerns about off-road vehicles being driven on the streets and on private property. We urge all residents to be mindful of the covenants that prohibit this, and to respect the property of others.

The next quarterly meeting of the Civic Association will be held on Monday, July 18, at 7pm in the Bull Meeting Room (above the golf club pro shop). Our guest speaker will be Mike Tremblay, representing the Boone's Trace LLC developers. He will discuss the growth at Boone's Trace and explain the relationship of The Woodlands, The Pinnacle, River Run, and The Reserve, which are all entities within Boone's Trace. Be sure to attend this informative meeting to ask your questions and find out what is happening here in the development!

Jeff Rogers of 144 Avawam Drive suggested that we start a column called Natural Wonders. Jeff is the brilliant photographer whose mural of Central Kentucky Thoroughbreds dons the baggage department of the Lexington Bluegrass Airport!    He offered the first submission: "While rinsing out my cereal bowl one chilly morning, 1 looked out our back window and saw two young does playing on the old logging road behind our tree line. They were nuzzling each other's noses and licking each other's faces like I had photographed young foals doing at horse farms. After they were finished, they both laid down on the trail, and just looked down towards the river. Unfortunately, I had to go to work but they remained at that same spot when I left the house. A very nice way to begin the day."
