Community News

The Boone's Trace Civic Association (BTCA) held its second quarterly meeting of 2006 on April 24 at The Bull Clubhouse.  Jeff Violette, president of the association, opened the meeting and expressed his appreciation for the great attendance.  He reported that Maggard Property Management had asked the county to pick up the trash on County Road 2328 at no cost to the Property Owner's Association.    Jeff asked Jerry Herndon to report any Board action.   Jerry reported that the Crases would not be building their first wellness center in Boone's Trace.  He, also, reported that the Board had approved the re-striping of Avawam Road.  He announced that the next Board meeting on May 9th  would be open to the community, and that a discussion item would be the renovation of the front entrance to address long-term security issues.   The Board is working on a proxy ballot system for the next election in November.  He also reported that the Bull will start charging us for using the meeting room., and that the cost may be $450.  Jeff said he would ask the Strategic Directions Committee to review the meeting room issue.  Other issues discussed with no action taken included:  Builders not picking up their litter on their lots;  screening the sewer pump in front of the Reserve; and swimming pool issues.  Jeff informed us that Gail Arrambide, BTCA Treasurer, will be returning to Texas; therefore, the Civic Association will need a new treasurer.  The meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:00 p.m.  Thanks to Trudy Robards, BTCA Secretary, for the minutes.

The BTCA Easter Egg Hunt was once again a great success.  Thanks to Amie Hawkins and all the moms who helped make it such fun for the kids in the neighborhood.  Our community "Adopt-a-Highway" cleanup was cancelled due to inclement weather, but the next road cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, June 17th.  Beginning at the river bridge, approximately two miles of County Road 2328 (passing in front of the Boone's Trace entrance) is the responsibility of our community to "clean up" four times a year.  We will meet at 10:00 am in the Recreation Complex parking lot for distribution of bags, safety vests, and section assignments.  After pickup, bags are to be left beside the highway for pickup by the State Highway Department on Monday.  If we have a large turnout, we might do some pickup in Boone's Trace.  If you have any questions, please contact Patrick Greer at his email address:  pat@kentuckygrowers.com.  Thanks, Patrick, for your good work on the Civic/Social Committee.  The next quarterly meeting of the Civic Association will be held on Saturday, July 1, at 4 pm just prior to the Fourth of July picnic that starts at 5 pm.  The meeting will be held at the Recreation Complex picnic area.  Bring your own lawn chairs, and plan to stay for the picnic after the meeting.

The Boone's Trace Property Owner's Association (BTPOA) Board of Directors met on May 9 at The Bull meeting room.  Jerry Herndon, president of the Board, called the meeting to order at 7 pm.  Other board members attending were John Archer and Mike Taylor.  Kathy Dial and Darlene from Maggard Property Management gave a financial report and said that these are available for any property owner.  They said that Lexington Pools has been contracted to maintain the swimming pool.  Jerry opened a discussion of the front entrance and security renovation.  He said that the Board will send out information to all property owners for feedback on this issue.  Roy Hines, chair of the Restrictions Committee, said that letters were being sent out to property owners who were not maintaining their property.  A resident asked about the large signs that some realtors are placing on homes and lots for sale; he indicated that some of these are in violation and owners would be notified.  The Covenants restrict For Sale signs to a maximum of 9 square feet, with only one sign per lot, with the exception that golf course lots may have a second sign on the golf course side of the home.  Mike Tremblay announced that the final road surface would be placed on the interior roads (Gleneagles and St. Andrews sections) in June.  The schedule has been mailed to all property owners.  It was requested by a resident that a procedure be established for proxy votes for the November election of the Board of Directors.  The Board has five members who serve two-year terms; three of the positions will be open for election this year.  It was also requested that there be a procedure for nominations in advance of the meeting, with a Candidate Statement sheet sent to the property owners, so that they might make more informed decisions about the election.  It was announced that Gary McComas will chair the Strategic Directions Committee.  Property owners were reminded that the Committees are posted on the website.
