Text Box: The Boone’s Trace Civic Association held its first quarterly meeting of 2003 on March 3, after the January meeting was postponed due to inclement weather. Officers for 2004 were elected as follows: Chairperson: Eric Stamper; Vice Chair: Roy Hines; Treasurer: Jeff Metze; Secretary: Karen Bates; and Historian: Becki Owens. George Huxel, Chairperson for 2003, expressed appreciation to those who served as committee chairs during the first year of BTCA: Strategic Directions, Ron Thorpe; Madison Co. Governmental Affairs, Doug Eversole; Summer Programming, Robb Cox; Children & Teen Programming, Renee Mathis; New Year’s Eve Function, Liane Hinch and Brenda Phillips; and Newsletter, Betty Huxel. The Executive Committee (consisting of the five officers) will meet to discuss committees for 2004. If you are interested in serving on a committee, call Eric at 624-8166. Mike Tremblay was present to answer questions about current and future development in Boone’s Trace.
Last year, BTCA voted to reserve the web address www.boonestrace.org for a future website for Boone's Trace. Boone's Trace resident Doug Wedding will maintain the website through his company. He will be selling ads to cover the cost of maintaining the site, so there will be no cost to Boone's Trace. If you are interested to learn about posting an ad on the site, contact Doug at doug@cybersmarts.com. Doug expects to have the website up and running by the end of April.
Wireless web service is possible in Boone’s Trace if enough people are interested. WEBCATS (www.webcats.net) is a wireless provider that has set up towers in adjacent counties. A representative from the company attended the BTCA meeting. Approximately 15-20 people would need to commit to the service with a one-year contract before the company would spend the money to place a receiver on the tower. If interested, contact Dave Shafran at dave@theshafrans.com.

A petition was started at the meeting to get cable at Boone’s Trace. If you wish to sign, stop by the Sales Office. Your signature does not commit you to subscribe to the service. It merely says you think cable service should be available here.

The group discussed concerns about adherence to the Covenants & Restrictions (C&R). All property owners are required to abide by these guidelines. Mike reminded the group that the C&R apply to all owners, whereas the building guidelines vary from section to section. For a copy of the C&R or the building guidelines, call the developers’ office at 626-9680. These will be posted on the website when it goes online. The Restrictions Committee for 2004 is now being formed (see page 3). This committee is under the authority of and reports to Boone’s Trace Property Owners Association, not BTCA.

The group expressed thanks to George Huxel for his leadership in the first year of BTCA. The next meeting of the Association will be held on Wednesday, April 28, at 7pm at the Bull Golf Clubhouse.
Text Box: After a break for winter, The Bull will begin again in April to host “Nine and Dine” on Friday nights from 6 to 8 pm. This is a great buffet dinner at a reasonable price … open to golfers and Boone’s Trace residents … you don’t have to golf to eat. Come eat and meet your neighbor; you can’t beat the location!

The Boone’s Trace Wildlife and Nature Preservation Group is gearing up for the spring. This interest group was formed as a result of the survey that BTCA conducted last summer. If you are interested in participating in habitat creation and preservation in Boone’s Trace, contact Carol Parkey at 624-8349 or Bill Jayne at 626-1385.

Ron and Stephanie Thorpe are accepting names of couples to participate in a Saturday Night Bunco group at Boone’s Trace. Held on the fourth Saturday of each month, this activity was also prompted by the community survey. Couples take turns hosting the group in their home. They meet first to socialize over a pot luck dinner, then follow the meal with a bit of bunco. A great way to get to know some of your neighbors better! If you want to participate, call the Thorpes at 626-8206.
