Text Box: The Boone’s Trace Civic Association held its third quarterly meeting of 2004 on July 26 at the Recreation Complex.
Chairperson Eric Stamper introduced Roger Barger, who is Madison County Magistrate for District Two, and who was elected a year ago to serve our area of the county. Mr. Barger addressed questions from property owners about county issues. Concerning the increase in fire insurance rates for many property owners, he explained that Boone’s Trace is served by Whitehall Volunteer Fire Department, and that the ISO (Insurance Service Office) Classification for Whitehall is 9 for homes within 5 miles of Whitehall and within 1000 feet of a fire hydrant. Mr. Barger answered general questions about services and residential growth in northern Madison County. Property owners expressed thanks to him for attending the meeting.
Officers reports were given by chairman Eric Stamper, secretary Karen Bates and treasurer Jeff Metze. Issues discussed included regulations for the pool and recreation area. Eric appointed a committee to study other communities and present their findings at the next meeting. Carol Parkey reported that the Strategic Directions Committee meets monthly on the third Wednesday of the month. They are currently preparing a new survey to be mailed out later this month, the results of which will be discussed at the October meeting of BTCA and presented to the annual meeting of the Property Owners Association in November. Some of the issues to be addressed include signage in the neighborhood, speeding, road conditions, security, and yard sales.
The Restrictions Committee was appointed by the Boone’s Trace Property Owners Association and meets monthly to serve as a liaison between the property owners and the Board of Directors. They have established a procedure to address violations in the Boone’s Trace Covenants, Conditions & Restrictions (CC&R), and letters are being sent to property owners to apprise them of the efforts to see that all comply with the regulations. For a copy of the CC&R or the building guidelines, stop by the Sales Office. These regulations are also posted on the website. This committee is under the authority of and reports to Boone’s Trace Property Owners Association, not BTCA.
Mark McKune volunteered to organize a fall social event, which will be a golf outing on October 9 (see page 3). Eric thanked Amy Fonticiella and all who helped her with the Independence Day celebration at the Recreation Complex. The gathering was a great success. He also thanked those who helped with the Community Trash Pickup on June 12. The group was reminded to check out the website www.boonestrace.org for new information posted between issues of the newsletter. The meeting was adjourned and refreshments were served.
The next meeting of BTCA will be on Monday, October 25, at 7 pm in the Meeting Room of The Bull Golf Clubhouse. All property owners are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Text Box: Kudos to Lisa Parke, who was selected as 2004 Independent Professional of the Year for Commerce Lexington (formerly known as the Lexington Chamber of Commerce). Lisa formed her company Advertising Specialties several years ago, and the company has had enormous success under her capable leadership. Two years ago Lisa was president of our Boone’s Trace Social Club, which led to the formation of the BTCA, and we know firsthand her talents!
An exhibit of photographs of Machu Picchu in Peru will open at Eastern Kentucky University at the end of the month. The photos were taken by Betty Huxel when she was in South America as a Fulbright Scholar. The exhibit has been traveling around the country for several years, including a two-month show at the Embassy of Peru in Washington DC. It will be on display at Giles Gallery on the EKU campus in Richmond from September 27 through October 21. An opening reception will be held on Monday, September 27 from 7-9 pm, and all Boone’s Trace neighbors are invited to attend. The Gallery is located off the main lobby of the Campbell Building, which is directly behind the EKU President’s home.
Ruth Padgett, a resident of The Reserve, has started a new business called Maid in Heaven to provide home cleaning services solely to Boone’s Trace residents. There will be two time frames available, from 8-noon or from 1-5 pm on Monday through Friday. For more information, call Ruth at 623-9807.

Every four years on Election Day (always on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November), registered voters in the United States cast their votes for presidential electors. Collectively, these electors form the Electoral College, who cast votes for President. The number of electors per state is equal to the number in its Congressional delegation. This year we will vote on Tuesday, November 2, and Boone’s Traces residents cast ballots at Whitehall Elementary School in Richmond.
