The Boone's Trace Civic Association held its quarterly summer meeting on July 1 at the picnic pavilion.  The president, Jeff Violette, Chair of BTCA, opened the meeting.  He announced that Gail Arrambide, treasurer of BTCA, and her husband had moved back to Texas.  JoAnn Greer volunteered to finish out the term as treasurer.

The group asked for a discussion of the pool services.  Jeff outlined who was responsible for the upkeep of the pool.  Maggard Property Management had contracted with the Lexington Pool Company to operate the pool this year.  Lexington Pool Company subcontracted with a resident to test the chlorine, make adjustments to chlorine, keep the pool area clean and to let them know about any other problems.  Several residents expressed concern that the maintenance was not done in a timely fashion, and that we have been subject to health department violations.  Jeff expressed that, after some initial problems at the beginning, everything seemed to be fine at the pool.

Resident David Shafran expressed concern about the times of adult-only swim.   In his opinion, it interfered with family time.  Betty Huxel presented the history on how adult-only swim was created, and that a survey was taken initially.  Dave asked that the issue be revisited.  After considerable discussion of these and other issues about the pool, the members agreed that a Pool Committee should be formed to review existing rules, to look at the operation of the pool and any other concerns.  Also, the members agreed that a survey about the pool should be sent to all residents.  Jeff agreed to create the survey and ask the Board to mail it.  Suzanne Compton and Dave Shafran volunteered to be on the Pool Committee.  After many people expressed frustration with the current property manager, a motion was made to recommend to the Board of Directors that they start investigating the hiring of another property management company.  The motion passed unanimously.   Thanks to Trudy Robards, BTCA secretary, for submitting the summary.  For complete minutes, visit the website.

Following the BTCA meeting, the annual Fourth of July picnic was held at the picnic pavilion.  Amy Fonticiella organized the pot-luck gathering, with barbeque provided by Corky's.  We had a great turnout, and it was a super time to meet new neighbors and visit with friends.  Thanks for the good work, Amy!

Our next community
"Adopt-a-Highway" cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, September 16.  Beginning at the river bridge, approximately two miles of County Road 2328 (passing in front of the Boone's Trace entrance) is the responsibility of our community to "clean up" four times a year.  We will meet at 10:00 am in the Recreation Complex parking lot for distribution of bags, safety vests, and section assignments.  If you have any questions, please contact Patrick Greer at his email address:  pat@kentuckygrowers.com.  Patrick is also organizing golf outings for couples.  If you are interested, contact him by email, or call him at 624-8921.

The
next quarterly meeting of the Civic Association will be held on Tuesday, October 3.  It will be at the community meeting room upstairs at The Bull Golf Course, from 7 to 8:30 pm. Agenda items for this meeting include:  (1) concerns about property management issues, (2) discussion of front entrance renovation proposal, (3) discussion of upcoming elections to the Board of Directors, including the mechanism for proxy votes,  and (4) discussion of potential revisions of the current covenants document.  If you have other agenda items, please contact Jeff Violette before the meeting.  BTCA would like to provide property owners with information about persons who wish to be nominated to the BTPOA Board of Directors (see page 3).  As a community service, the civic association will distribute a flyer with "Candidate Statements" that would include two paragraphs from each candidate: one describing their qualifications, and one telling what they want to do for the community.  If you are interested in being a candidate for the Board of Directors, please attend the BTCA meeting, and/or contact Jeff Violette with your information: jviolette@bellsouth.net or 626-7992.

Note to newcomers:  The BTPOA is the official corporation registered with the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  The BTCA is an organization sanctioned by the BTPOA.  As per its Bylaws, the BTCA was organized to promote social welfare and serve the common good and general welfare of the property owners of BTPOA through recreational, educational, and social activities, and to perform such other acts as may be requested by the Board of Directors of BTPOA.
